Compliance Project Manager
MLMIC Insurance Company is based in New York state and has specialized in providing professional liability insurance for NY physicians since 1975. After operating independently and as a mutual insurance company, MLMIC was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway in the fall of 2018.
We continue to be the largest writer of professional medical liability insurance in the State of New York. We have offices based in New York City, East Meadow, Syracuse, and Colonie.
We are currently seeking candidates for a remote Compliance Project Manager position. This role involves learning MLMIC’s compliance program, managing relationships with internal disciplines, and advising senior management on compliance projects, risks and strategies. Though this is a remote position, New York residency is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Manage annual auditing and monitoring auditing plans. Prepare reports based on the observations of such reviews and follow up on any needed recommendations.
- Work closely with Information Technology, Information Security and General Counsel on compliance issues.
- Manage MLMIC’s Business Continuity Plan.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related field required.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working and effectively collaborating with General Counsel and technology teams.
- Working knowledge of Vendor Management.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and Information Technology event management.
- Knowledge of gathering and understanding evidence to support Information Technology audits.
- Knowledge of Data Governance and data management life cycles.
- Knowledge of Business Continuity Plans.
- Organizational and time management skills required, including a strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers (e.g.: Insureds, Distribution Partners, Policy Administrators, etc.) required.
- Ability to work equally well in a team environment and independently in a remote working environment.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) proficiency required.
